The following Extensions have been created or updated from existing Extensions and are currently being used by WebtomiX.

Advertising Banner (Component and Module)

This Component and Module were originally created by John McCollum.

The Advertising Banner Component and Module are to be able to randomly display Banner images on a website. The specified banners would have URL links attached to link to other websites/pages and have setup to specify start and stop dates for displaying the banners. The component would be able to handle most image types such as. jpg/.png & .gif along with flash movie objects (.swf).

The Module loads random Banners from the setup list created using the Component based on the start and stop dates setup for the Banners.

In order to use the Module the Component must be loaded and configured along with the Module.


The Component and Module are Joomla 1.5 Native.
The Component and Module will be able to accept a list of banners with appropriate information (URL links, Start Dates and Expiration Dates) and these banners would be displayed in a main content area in a random order.

The Component was modifed to list both the Begin and Expiration date when showing the Banner Management Screen. The Component was modified to add the parameter option of defining how to handle opening the defined URL for the Banner. The user can now select options to open the URL with the following options:
  • Open in this Window/Frame
  • Open in New Window
  • Open in Parent Window/Frame
  • Open in Top Frame

The Component and Module were modified to use this new parameter and generate the appropriate HTML code to open the defined URL in the defined window specified.

Content Confuser (Plug-in)

The Content Confuser is a Joomla Plug-In that can be used in an Article to prevent content from being copied and pasted into another text editor/word processor.

The Plug-In was originally created by Sameh Fakoua.

The Plug-In is Joomla 1.5 Native.
The Plug-In is to be used within an article to prevent copying content information. The Plug-In will convert visible text into random characters when an individual tries to copy and paste the information into another text editor.

The update was to convert the code to run natively on Joomla 1.5.
